Los Angeles, CA - Sydney Sweeney pokes fun at the Glen Powell affair rumours during her Saturday Night Live opening monologue. The Euphoria star played up the online speculation with help from Powell, who sat in the front row of the audience. The actress – who starred in the recent movie Anyone but You with Powell – denied the pair had been romantically involved after social media blew up with rumours they had an on-set affair. As she kicked off hosting SNL, Sweeney declared: “That’s obviously not true.” Sweeney noted that her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, helped produce the 2023 romantic comedy, adding: “And he was there the entire shoot. And I just want to let everyone know that he’s the man of my dreams, and we’re still together and stronger than ever. He even came here tonight to support me. Can we cut to him?” In the first row of the audience sat not Davino, but Powell, who glanced around proudly at first, but whose expression turned when looking into the camera.The Euphoria star then clarified: “That’s not my fiancé! He’s in the dressing room!” During her monologue Sweeney also had fun by breaking down her ‘five=point plan’ to break into acting. The actress kicked off her hosting debut, joking: “You have seen me in Anyone But You and Euphoria. You definitely did not see me in Madame Web. But I do have a new film coming out called Immaculate. I play a nun, so it’s perfect casting.” Sweeney went on to express that she wanted: “Everyone to get to know the real me. I feel like people only see me as the girl on TV who screams, cries and has sex. Sometimes it’s all three at the same time.” The Euphoria star shared a bit about growing up in her hometown in Spokane, Washington, and praised her parents for driving 19 hours to Los Angeles so she could audition for film and television roles. “I’m so grateful to them for believing in me,” she said. But Sweeney admitted that the only reason they believed in her is because: “I presented them with a five-point plan to break into acting. It was a PowerPoint presentation and I still have it. … It says, ‘Audition, get an agent, do commercials and short films, then get my SAG Card’.
